This is perhaps the cheapest Port I’ve ever quaffed. It isn’t the cheapest available, but it’s certainly down on the bottom rung. It still has the re-usable cork topper that pretty much any decent port has. Port is a little harder for me to review because I have had many fewer Ports than wines and Port has a very distinctive character and this particular Port shares that character. It smells like Port, and if you’ve ever had it you know what I mean. It smells deep, dark and sultry. The flavor is high on alcohol and short on character but it has a finish that is long by the standards or normal wine. It’s ok for the price, and Port is generally more expensive than wine ounce for ounce. If you’ve never experienced Port, drink this first. It gives you a sense of what Port is like but still gives you a lot of upside in terms of better experiences down the road.
